The open-mindedness, ambition, and curiosity of young people are invaluable to Energy Netherlands. That’s why there is room for multiple interns throughout the year. Today, we look back on Jasper Derriks’ internship, during which he contributed greatly to the association’s work over the past six months.
Fascinating Dynamics
“I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn about the fascinating dynamics within the energy market,” says Jasper Derriks. Jasper, 26 years old, studied Political Science and History. “I wanted to intern at Energy Netherlands because I find the strategic role of energy in international relations very interesting.”
Networking Opportunities
What Jasper found most appealing about this internship were the networking opportunities in Brussels. “It was incredibly educational to discuss new ideas within the framework of the European Renewable Energy Directive (REDIII) and the capacity mechanism,” he shares. “The trust I was given to represent Energy Netherlands confirmed my feeling of truly being part of the team.”
Effective Collaboration
Jasper learned a great deal about the connection between the public and private sectors. “An important lesson for me was how crucial it is for policymakers and market players to work together effectively to achieve the energy transition. Transparency and integrity are essential in this process.”
Thank You, Jasper!
Energy Netherlands thanks Jasper for his enthusiasm and commitment. We wish him much success in his future career and in his ambition to contribute to the link between energy and national security.
