Energie-Nederland is disappointed that the government has fallen. A caretaker government inevitably leads to delays in decision-making and new legislation that are urgently needed at this time. The energy sector is ready to invest billions in sustainability efforts, but this requires effective governance. Chairperson Cora van Nieuwenhuizen stated, “We cannot afford to postpone measures that address issues such as energy poverty or jeopardize security of supply. After a lengthy formation period, the government was finally gaining momentum in implementing the necessary legislation for the energy transition.” Energie-Nederland urges the House of Representatives to continue making decisions that contribute to the energy transition. In the coming weeks, the House of Representatives will determine which issues are considered controversial. We trust that the necessary issues to achieve the goals for 2030 will be pursued. If these matters are put on hold for another year, there will be insufficient time to implement the measures, and the 2030 targets will be definitively out of reach.
